Those who know me well have accepted the fact that I love commercials (though they probably don't understand why!). I've got to love them for being patient with me when they have to listen to me describing the latest "gem" I've found to share with them, like the one below.

The Guiding Light Goes Out

Another milestone in broadcast history was cast on 18 September 2009 when The Guiding Light aired its final episode, the last one of more than 15,000 produced. Created as radio serial, the title refers to a lamp in the study of Reverend Dr. John Ruthledge, a major character when The Guiding Light debuted in 1937, that family and residents could see as a sign for them to find help when needed.

With the J.J. Abrams Star Trek "origins" movie, this significant franchise is getting a much-deserved reboot into the popular consciousness. At the very end of the movie, when Leonard Nimoy recited the famous "Space: the final frontier..." intro and we heard the original TV show theme music, I was suddenly beamed into nostalgia land.
