“True Blue” Blueberry-Banana Smoothie

Blueberries are on an extensive list of superfoods, which by definition are those foods loaded with nutrients, so they are super healthy.
Others on that list include dark leafy greens (Swiss Chard, Collards, Kale, Mustard and Radish greens, Spinach, Cabbage, Broccoli), Sweet Potatoes, Beans, Whole Grains, Green Tea, Eggs, Beans and Legumes (Lentils, Peas, Peanuts, Alfalfa), Nuts, Seeds, Kefir and Yogurt, Garlic, Olive Oil, Ginger and Tumeric, Salmon, Avocado, and Mushrooms.
This Blueberry-Banana Smoothie recipe is one of our favorites and we sometimes make this beverage in lieu of an after dinner dessert. We’re sharing it with you now as part of our launch of our Facebook Live movie screening project called Bijou-Q Cinema and, more importantly, the associated Bijou-Q Cinema Drinking+Sharing Game.
This recipe not only contains Blueberries, but obviously we also add a Banana, which has its share of carbs. However, Bananas are loaded with potassium, so they are heart healthy and good for you when consumed in moderation!
The addition of the optional Walnuts — full of super-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids — is a positive choice since they are a brain healthy food, as are the Blueberries.
We’d love to hear from you, so hit us up on Twitter with the hashtag #BonAppetit to let us know about any variations you make to your Smoothie.

We hope you enjoy this recipe — Bon Appetit!
